In today’s society, it is too obvious to tell that women are still not given their basic rights.
When it comes to rights, it can be seen that the basic rights of women are given in all religions and cultures, but not implemented. Whether we see the history of the world or contemporary issues, the rights of women in many places are violated.
In order to fight this, many organizations come forward holding the banner of women empowerment to stand with these oppressed creatures. Well, I am calling them creatures because they are treated likewise in many places.
There are many definitions for it. The most prominent is to make an effort to raise the status of women by education, awareness, literacy, better livelihood, or simply raising the status of women in society by any means.
Let us explore the world a little bit. In major societies, women have the right of equal dignity as men and moral equality, but it is common for women to encounter barriers in religious leadership, property rights, and public decision-making. Similarly, in other traditions, women are given a portion of inheritance from each of their guardians, yet the examples are too numerous that many are refraining from it.
Despite progress in gender equality, millions of women, especially those who are from marginalized backgrounds, still lack social, economic, and political equality.
Well, there are a lot of ways to do that, and, in my opinion, everyone can take part according to their own capacity. We can first and foremost help them understand their own rights, donate to organizations that are doing work for it, push policies supporting women, invest in female-owned businesses, etc. Even offering a helping hand to a new mother is considered an act of women’s empowerment. Apart from their education, skill development among women should also be focused as many women cross their teens without literacy, at this point, gaining skills will have an enormous effect to empower them in society.
